Fred Kerley has made bold claims after his exploits in the men’s 100m at the US Olympic trials. The 2022 world 100m champion clocked 9.88 for a third-place finish to qualify for the Olympic Games automatically.

Triple world champion Noah Lyles won the race, equaling his personal best time of 9.83 with Kenny Bednarek, the Olympic Games 200m silver medallist coming in second with a personal best time of 9.87.

Congratulatory messages poured in for the Olympic Games 100m silver medallist, with the college he studied at, the South Plains College, also lauding him for his achievements.

The college’s athletics club shared a throwback photo of Fred Kerley, with a touching caption that moved the masses including, Kerley himself.

"Levelland to Paris. A former walk-on at South Plains, Fred Kerley goes 9.88 in the men's 100-meters to take third at the US Olympic Trials and qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics! #GoTexans," the post read.

A walk-on is a college athlete who is very good at sports. Most of the time, walk-ons are not officially asked to join sports teams before the start of a season but they can join the team later because they have shown they have enough skills in a test of their ability.

Kerley replied to the comments made by his former school, reminding the world who he truly is.

He explained that he was a walk-on during his time as an athlete in junior college. He said:

"Just know I did walk on at juco I am the Greatest to ever do it."

Fred Kerley signed a deal with SKIMS, Kim Kardashian’s underwear, loungewear, and shapewear brand after he qualified for the Paris Olympics 2024.

The deal comes in handy since Kerley has been without a sponsor after parting ways with Asics after the unfortunate happenings at the USATF New York City Grand Prix.

At the event, Kerley donned rival Puma spikes, a move that saw Asics mutually part ways with the American sprint icon.

"Asics and Fred Kerley have mutually parted ways and he is no longer an ASICS-sponsored athlete. We wish him the best in his career," Asics said in a statement.

Kerley announced the partnership on his Instagram page, sharing several photos in SKIMS clothing. The sprint king now needs a shoe sponsor ahead of the Olympic Games and things are looking up for him after he proved his abilities at the trials.

The Kim Kardashian brand is also working with Team USA as one of the sponsors for the Paris Olympic Games.
