American track and field icon Tara Davis-Woodhall had an adorable reaction when she learned that 11-time Olympic medalist Simone Biles watched her compete as she won gold at the Paris Olympics.
Davis-Woodhall, the 25-year-old long jumper, redeemed herself from the disappointment of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where she had to settle for a sixth-place finish. This time around, the Utah-based athlete bagged the first Olympic medal of her career on Thursday, August 8, after winning the women's long jump title with a finish of 7.10 meters. She defeated the defending champion, Malaika Mihambo of Germany, who took the second spot on the podium with a jump of 6.98 meters.
Another American long jumper, Jasmine Moore, secured the bronze with a 6.96-meter jump; this was also her second medal at the Paris Olympics, having won a bronze in the women's triple jump earlier in the competition. Following the conclusion of the event, Moore and Tara Davis-Woodhall attended the post-game press conference, where they learned that Simone Biles was present in the bleachers while they were performing.
Reacting to it, Davis-Woodhall stated:
"Bruh! She watched. She freaking watched and Snoop Dogg. I can't believe it. I can't believe she even came to our track meet. Yeah, I mean greatness watching greatness. That's it."
The video of the same was shared by The Players' Tribune on their X handle (former Twitter). They wrote:
"Tara Davis-Woodhall and Jasmine Moore’s reaction to Simone watching them compete is everything."
"I cannot believe it" - Tara Davis-Woodhall reflects on her Paris Olympics victory
Davis-Woodhall ensured her place on the podium in the fourth attempt itself as her 7.10 meters jump remained unbeaten until the end, joining the likes of Tiana Bartoletta, Brittney Reese, and track and field legend Jackie Joyner-Kersee to win a long jump title at the Olympic Games.
Talking about her victory, the American prodigy stated (via Flo Track):
"I cannot believe it, I'm so stoked. I've been dreaming of this moment for so long, ever since I was four years old. I've gone through hell and back, I have faced everything that you could imagine."
She added:
"I told myself 8/08, that's the day I win the Olympics. When I found out I was jumping at 8 p.m., I knew it was perfect. That was a sign from God."
Besides her Olympic title, the 25-year-old is also a World Championship silver medalist and a World Indoor Champion gold medalist.
