Lee registered a score of 14.600 in the beam balance, taking Team USA's score to 142.664. She also delivered multiple performances in the qualifiers on July 28, scoring 13.100 in the women's vault, 14.866 in the women's uneven bars, 56.132 in the women's individual all-around, and 14.033 in the balance beam.

Lee surpassed her previous balance beam score on Day 4, solidifying Team USA's position as strong gold medal contenders. The condition almost affected her career, as she couldn't perform her routines due to her swollen fingers. She also ended up gaining a lot of weight. This disease forced her to end her college career early and withdraw from various competitions.

Here's what she said about the problems that she faced: (as quoted by People.com)

"I kept peeling off the bar. I couldn't hold on," Lee said. "My fingers were so swollen, and I couldn't even do a normal kip cast to handstand on bars."

She added,

"I think I gained, like, 40 pounds. It affected my whole body and how I looked and how I was feeling."

The gymnast revealed that health and recovery were her sole priorities during that period.

"I am blessed and thankful to be working with the best specialized medical team to treat and manage my diagnosis. My focus at this time is my health and recovery."

Suni Lee underwent intensive treatment and medication to overcome her health challenges. Her subsequent stunning comeback at the ongoing Paris Olympics solidified her status as a formidable force in gymnastics.
