Nebraska Cornhuskers' Harper Murray's sister Kendall Murray gave a shout-out to her first year of college with a picture series. The sister came fresh off their Floridan trip with her mother Sarah Murray.
Murray, a sophomore of the Nebraska Cornhuskers women's volleyball team, ended the 2024 season with a semi-final appearance at the NCAA Division I Volleyball Championships. In the match-up, despite her best efforts in the fourth set, scoring a series of aces, Murray and her team succumbed to Penn State 3-2.
Murray is currently enjoying downtime with her sister Kendall, who plays volleyball with the Michigan Wolverines. The sisters recently attended the New York Jets vs Miami Dolphins football match-up at MetLife Stadium.
Shortly after, Kendall posted pictures from their New Jersey trip on Instagram, featuring her sister and other friends, captioning:
"Year 1!!!" Kendall's Instagram caption read.
On January 5, 2025, after ushering in the New Year's, the Murray sisters touched down in Florida with their mother Sarah and Michigan Wolverines volleyball senior, Jacque Boney. The outside hitter donned a black dress and Kendall wore an orangish peach fit.
"Girls trip," she captioned.
Kendall Murray also posted similar pictures on her Instagram, featuring her sister, teammate, and mother in front of an adorned Christmas tree. She wrote the caption in anticipation of the 2025 season.
"Season 25"
Harper Murray's resume includes a long list of laurels; the 2024 AVCA All-America Second Team, AVCA All-Region Team (2023,2024), the 2024 NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team, All-Big Ten First Team (2023, 2024), and others.
Harper Murray once revealed the significance of Jersey #27 and how her sister Kendall got her into volleyball
Harper Murray was a playmate of her elder sister Kendall when volleyball piqued her interest. Speaking to Jessica Coody in a Nebraska Huskers' YouTube episode, the outside hitter shared how her sister played an integral role in getting her into volleyball.
Haroer further said that her journey started with cheering on Kendall from the sidelines to sharing the court as opponents.
"She was the one that got me into volleyball. We used to have a sand court in our backyard at home. We would go and play all the time so I would say she got me into the sport. I remember being like that little girl on the sidelines at convention centers that would get yelled at by the referees to stop playing because I'd be watching her games, but it's really cool that I'm gonna get to play against her.”
Harper further highlighted the significance of the sisters sporting 27 on their jerseys as a connection with their late father, Vada Murray.
“My dad's number when he played at Michigan was 27 and as many people know he ended up dying when I was younger…So, I just think it's just a reminder of why we play and care so much about what we do.”
Murray's father, a former defensive back of the Michigan football team, was diagnosed with lung cancer when the sisters were very young. After three years of battling, he passed away in 2011.
