Kishane Thompson garnered a lot of attention from his fans on Day 1 of the Jamaican Trials, as he clocked the second-fastest time in the world in the 100m heats. He qualified for the 100m semi-finals in the trials, which started on June 27 and will conclude on June 30 at the National Stadium in Kingston.
After this win, Thompson has become the sixth fastest man in Jamaica, and before this personal best, he was renowned for his exceptional performance at the National Championships on July 6, 2023. He produced a personal best of 9.91s in the 100m to trounce Ackeem Blake. However, he eventually did not compete in the semi-finals after a sudden exit from the trials.
The 21-year-old has yet again dominated the 100m heats at the Jamaican trials and cruised towards victory after clocking 9.82s, the second-fastest 100m time in the world. He bested Oblique Seville, who recorded a time of 9.98s, and Julian Forte was in the third position with a time of 10.00s. They advanced to the 100m semi-finals, a step closer to booking their berth in Paris.
