Jamaican track and field legend Usain Bolt recently revealed the advice his doctor gave him before his last tournament at the 2017 World Championships. The eight-time Olympic gold medalist finished third in the 100m event during the race after clocking a run time of 9.95 seconds.
He also competed in the 4x100m relay event but got injured during the finals and couldn't touch the finishing line. However, his doctor had predicted this fate for Bolt even before the tournament started which he revealed several years later.
In a recent podcast for "High Performance", Usain Bolt stated that his doctor had advised him to stay away from competing in the 2017 World Championships as there were chances of an injury scar.
He further stated that he had plans to retire from the track after the 2016 Rio Olympics but it was his sponsors and fans who wanted to see him in London. He said (at 1:00:35 onwards):
"I wanted to retire after the Olympics in Rio but the sponsors, fans, and everybody were like, "It's in London, please come". Every year before I go to a Championship I go to see my doctor and he said to me, "Do not go to the World Championships. If you compete at that level I know you're gonna compete, you're going to get injured. Do not go," and I was like I have to go. "
Further describing his final meet, Bolt explained:
"It was a tough moment but it's still for me I don't think it damaged what I've done before because I did for the people but it's something that I still look at and not regret because it was a wonderful moment."

During the High Performance podcast, Bolt named Asafa Powell, Justin Gatlin, and Yohan Blake as his dream quartet. He also mentioned that he would run the anchor leg in this quartet. Bolt said (at 1:02:52):
