The 2024 Paris Olympics saw a very successful campaign from the United States Track and Field team. The side clinched 34 medals in the events, including 14 gold medals, 11 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals.
The track and field discipline was the most fruitful one for the United States Olympic team in the Paris event with 34 medals. Swimming and Gymnastics followed suit with 28 and 9 medals respectively.
The US track and field side carved a dominating path in the 2024 Olympics and was also the only team that clinched more than 20 medals in the discipline. Kenya settled in the second position with 11 while Great Britain followed suit with 10.
This outing of the US track and field side in the French capital yielded even better results when compared to the last edition of the Olympics in Tokyo where the team clinched 26 medals (7 gold, 12 silver, and 7 bronze medals).
The 2024 event saw numerous staggering individual performances from US athletes including Syndey McLaughlin-Levrone's solid performance in the Women's 400m hurdles event where she created a world record in the discipline with a run time of 50.37 seconds.
In the men's event, Noah Lyles finally settled doubts over his self-proclaimed "World's fastest man" tag by winning the gold medal in the Men's 100m event with a run time of 9.79 seconds. Competing in the Men's 1500m event, Cole Hocker clinched the gold medal and also set a new Olympic record by clocking a run time of 3:27.65.
Besides the individual performances, the United States Track and Field team also had a successful outing in the relay events. Among the four relay events in the Olympic track and field roster, the US side clinched podium finishes in three of them.
The team of Rai Benjamin, Bryce Deadmon, Vernon Norwood, and Christopher Bailey also set a new Olympic record in the Men's 4x400m relay event in the Paris Olympics 2024, clocking a run time of 2:54.43.
US Track and field athletes with multiple gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics
The 2024 Paris Olympics also saw numerous United States track and field athletes clinch numerous gold medals in this quadrennial event. From the men's event, Rai Benjamin was the only one who clinched two gold medals at the Paris event.
Benjamin clinched a top podium finish in the Men's 400m Hurdles event and was also part of the team that won the gold medal in the 4x100m relays.
Besides Benjamin, Gabrielle Thomas and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone also clinched multiple gold medals in the Paris Olympics. McLaughlin-Levrone clinched gold medals in the 400m hurdles and 4x400m relays whereas Thomas bagged three gold medals in the Paris event viz. 200m sprint, 4x100m relays, and 4x400m relays.
