The Lausanne Diamond League is done with, and alongside some valuable ranking points, winners like Letsile Tebogo and Jakob Ingebrigtsen will be walking home with a generous sum of prize money. For more than a decade now, the competition has awarded the top eight finishers for their efforts. Here is a full breakdown of what the athletes earned from their time at the Ouchy stadium.
As is expected, the top three finishers of each event garner the most lucrative prizes. The athletes who placed first at the Lausanne Diamond League will be claiming $10,000 in cash, meaning that Tebogo, Ingebrigtsen, Mondo Duplantis, Femke Bol, and more will walk out of Lausanne richer than they were when they arrived.
The next two competitors behind the winners receive $6,000 and $4,000 respectively.
Athletes who come in fourth and fifth are rewarded with $3,000 and $2,500, and the last three finishers at the Diamond League earned $2,000, $1,500, and $1,000 respectively.
Outside of the prize money that is up for grabs at individual events like the Lausanne Diamond League, athletes get a chance to earn extra cash rewards at the Diamond League Finals. Winners of each event at the finals receive a $30,000 cash prize and the trademark Diamond Trophy created by Beyer.
Top earners of the 2024 season after the Lausanne Diamond League
So far in 2024, we have completed 11 of the 15 scheduled DL meets, with the latest being the London Diamond League. As of now, some of the top earners from the various competitions of the league include shot put thrower Chase Jackson, pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis, 400m runner Marileidy Paulino, as well as hurdler Jasmine Camacho-Quinn.
Chase Jackson is one of the most successful athletes at the Diamond League events this year. She competed in five meets, winning each time, and collecting prize money worth $50,000. This also puts Jackson on track to win her third-consecutive Diamond League final.
Elsewhere, Duplantis has competed in four DL competitions this year, with his latest outing being the Lausanne Diamond League. The Swede finished first all four times, even setting a world record of 6.24m In Xiamen, leading to him earning $40,000 for his exploits so far. Paulino is in the same boat as the Olympic champion, having won four DL meets this season.
Meanwhile, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn has earned $30,000 from her outings at various Diamond League events this year, having won first place in Xiamen, Suzhou, as well as Lausanne.
