Olivia Dunne is currently the second highest-paid NIL athlete in the NCAA and the highest among females. While her ranking has dropped from first to second, her valuation has significantly increased over the last year.
Dunne joined in LSU in 2020, a year before the NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) era started. She became one of the most popular athletes, both on social media and in college during her first year at LSU and was an instant pick for brands.
She signed her first NIL deal with Vouri, a clothing brand, on 14 September 2021, and has since partnered with over 20 brands including American Eagle, Nautica, and Body Armour. According to On3.com, Dunne earns $4 million per year from NIL deals as of October 2024.
Dunne is the second highest-paid athlete, $1.8 million behind first-placed Sheduer Sanders. In an interview with The Full Send podcast last year, revealed that she earned over half a million dollars from a single social media.
The 21-year-old witnessed a significant rise in her earnings after she won her maiden NCAA Championship with LSU. She was valued at $3.3 million before the NCAA finals and following her victory, Dunne signed a multi-million dollar deal with Passes.
The gymnast is currently in her fifth year at LSU after she decided to use her extra year of NCAA eligibility. She will be seen in action during the LSU Tigers gymnastics meets, the first of which takes place on January 3, 2025.
Olivia Dunne says the day the NIL rule changed, her life also changed
Olivia Dunne recently claimed in the Amazon Prime Docuseries, ‘The Money Game’, that the day NCAA allowed athletes to partner directly with brands was the day her life changed.
"July 1, 2021, the NIL rule changed. That’s the day my life changed," she said.
Following the rapid increase in her net worth, Dunne splurged her money, first on her mother and then on a luxurious car.
"The first thing I ever got that was expensive was a Canada Goose coat for my mom. But the first thing I really bought that was quite expensive was a car. I got a BMW. That was cool. Also if I see a purse I like, I'm going to get it," she told GQ Sports in an interview
However, with the NIL deals limited to the duration of the collegiate career, Olivia Dunne is also creating a personal brand for herself. She debuted on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover in 2023 and featured on it in 2024 as well.
