Samson Dauda claimed the 2024 Mr. Olympia title at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Nevada on October 13. The bodybuilder bested a strong field comprising Hadi Choopan, Derek Lunsford, Martin Fitzwater, and Andrew Jacked to collect his first title at the tournament.
This follows Dauda's impressive third-place finish in 2023 and a sixth-place result in his 2022 debut at the event. He earned a cash prize of $600,000, while Choopan and Lunsford, the tournament’s former champions who placed second and third this year, received $250,000 and $100,000 respectively. Meanwhile, Fitzwater and Jacked took home $40,000 and $35,000 prize money.
With this victory, the Nigerian-British professional bodybuilder brought the title back to the United Kingdom for the first time since Dorian Yates claimed the same trophy, previously called the "Sandow Trophy", in 1997.
The format was such that in the two-day show, the pre-judging took place on October 11 and finals were held on October 12. On the first day, fifteen athletes progressed onto the main stage after head judge Steve Weinberger scored them through numerical comparisons. The judges performed competitive callouts to decide on the final placements on the second day.
In addition to winning the Mr. Olympia title, Dauda also won the IFBB Arnold Classic US and IFBB Arnold Classic UK in 2024. He won the 2024 IFBB France Pro in September.

Samson Dauda opens up after winning the 2024 Mr. Olympia
Samson Dauda shared his thoughts after winning the 60th edition of Mr. Olympia in an interview with retired American bodybuilder Dave Palumbo. He said (1:23 onwards) via RxMuscle -- The Truth in Bodybuilding's YouTube channel:
“This is a dream come true. This is unreal. Honestly, I mean I can't say anything. Oh man it feels over. It feels crazy, it feels over the moon, man.
It feels like you know what, all that work all year all putting through and going through everything to stand on that stage and go, yeah we did it. Against all we did it.”
The Mr. Olympia title is presented annually to the men's open division bodybuilding contest champion at the Olympia Fitness & Performance Weekend, overseen by the IFBB Professional League. It is widely regarded as the most prestigious event in the sport.
