Mondo Duplantis and Karsten Warholm, two dominant athletes in the sport of track and field, are all set for a high-voltage clash in the 100m ahead of the 2024 Zurich Diamond League. Both Duplantis and Warholm are world record holders in the men’s pole vault and 400m hurdles events, respectively.
In what started as a friendly banter between the two during a joint training session ahead of the 2023 Monaco Diamond League, the outcome will now witness Duplantis and Warholm taking center stage on September 4, 2024, a day before the official date for the Zurich Diamond League, in the 100m.
The rivalry between the two athletes began when Warholm thought that Duplantis was quick during their joint training session in July 2023. This resulted in Duplantis challenging the Norwegian athlete, a challenge that Warholm readily accepted.
Although not an official part of the Diamond League events, the showdown between Mondo Duplantis and Karsten Warholm is catching a lot of eyeballs among the track and field community. To know who is the fastest among the two athletes, fans will have to tune in to the World Athletics Inside Track.
One has to sign up for the Inside Track to watch the highly-anticipated clash in the 100m distance. Since the event is hosted in collaboration with Red Bull, Weltklasse Zürich (Zurich Diamond League), and PUMA, Red Bull TV is also set to livestream the event, which will take place at 9:30 PM CET or 3:30 PM Eastern Time.
The event will take place after the conclusion of the women’s pole vault event, a part of the Zurich Diamond League. Nina Kennedy, Katie Moon, Sandi Morris, and Angelica Moser are a few top athletes to watch out for in the same event on September 4.
