Ilona Maher's 'Dancing With The Stars' partner Alan Bersten was hurt after trying a few hilarious and challenging dance moves with the two-time Olympian. The pair were celebrating their reunion after their runner-up finish during the finale in November.
Maher was in Great Britain for nearly two weeks after the DWTS finale and signed a three-month contract with the Women's Premiership Rugby club Bristol Bears. The 28-year-old had a dramatic reunion with Bersten on her return to the United States last week but has now 'hurt' him during a hilarious dance practice video.
In a video posted by Maher on her Instagram handle on Sunday, the pair attempted various challenging dance moves with Bersten stretching his legs to the fullest in one scene. He was also seen spinning himself off on a table and claimed afterward that every dance step he performed during the video had hurt him.
"Every single one of these hurt me," Bersten commented under the post
The pair enjoyed incredible success during the 33rd season and were liked by judges and fans alike. They earned three perfect scores from the judges and following a fiery freestyle performance to “Femininomenon" during the finale, they finished as runners-up.
"I learned so much from Ilona Maher" - Alan Bersten expresses gratitude to Olympian after DWTS Finale
Despite falling short during the finale of 'Dancing With The Stars', Ilona Maher and Alan Bersten were proud of their performance on the show. Following their runner-up finish, Maher told Extra TV in an interview:
"I think that there's always room to improve and like it can beat you down, but there's just, I mean I had some really tough episodes this season, but I felt like I always came back stronger, and um I'm just really really proud of myself honestly." [0:23 onwards]
She also thanked Bersten for being patient with her developing dancing skills.
"I'm proud of Alan for sticking with me and being patient with me," Ilona Maher added
Bersten, a former champion of the show, also expressed his admiration for the Olympian and claimed he had learned a lot from her.
"Honestly I learned so much from Ilona. She lives every moment, and she brings so much happiness, and honestly it made me a happier person, and I can't wait to live my life knowing that me and Ilona are good friends!," he said
Bersten has competed in every season of 'Dancing With The Stars' since his debut in the 25th edition, where he placed 12th with partner Debbie Gibson. He won the show's 28th season with Bachelorette star Hannah Brown.
