Fans reacted to Quincy Wilson’s performance as he competed for the first time since the 2024 Paris Olympics. At the Quadrennial games, Wilson scripted history by becoming the youngest male track and field athlete to win a gold in the Summer Games, doing so as part of the USA’s men’s 4x400m team.
Wilson raced at the 2024 Ocean Breeze Holiday Festival on December 27, in the Varsity Red Boys Sprint Medley (400-200-200-800) Relay Finals. He ran a time of 2:01.07 in the event as his team completed the race with an overall time of 3:34.40.
The other Bullis’ School team, comprising Kenneth Adams, Demetrius Lewis Jr, Alexander Lambert, and Colin Abrams, was the better team as it bagged the top spot with 3:25.37. With Bullis School fielding two teams in the relay event, only one performance counted towards the overall results.
Following this run, fans had mixed reactions to Quincy Wilson’s performance as he lost in his first race after his Paris Olympics exploits. One fan seemed to suggest that the pressure and high expectations negatively affected the 16-year-old:
“Hype got to em”
Another fan expressed curiosity as Wilson, typically known for the 400m event, was competing in the 800m, writing:
“Quincy on the 8 👀”
Another fan said the athlete was "warming up":
“Bro was just warming up I'm assuming 😮”
Here are some more reactions to Quincy Wilson’s performance:
“If Quincy ain't winning, I don't wanna see”, a fan wrote.
“Let’s go dawgs!!!! 💙💛💙💛💙💛💙💛,” another fan chimed in with support for Bullis School.

Following his qualification for the USA team at the Paris Olympics, Quincy Wilson opened up about what being an Olympian meant to him. In an interview with WCHS Eyewitness News, he said,
“It means to me and everybody it just telling the younger generation and even people that are starting to lose hope that you can do it regardless. I had so many doubters and people and also so many supporters throughout the season and, you know, I told myself that I was going to prove myself right I wasn't going to prove anybody wrong and if you prove yourself right and run for you and the one above things will come” [4:17].
He added:
"My times were consistent and it's basically like consistency. You stay consistent with things, make things a habit and your life and your lifestyle would change…It's just amazing because you know all the hard work, all the practices, all the early morning wakeups at 4:45 - 5:00 o'clock to get ready for school. It's just amazing.”
On his Olympic debut, Wilson competed in the 4x400m heats, where he ran a 47.30s split. With strong performances from his three teammates, Vernon Norwood, Bryce Deadmon, and Christopher Bailey, the team qualified for the finals.
