Renowned artistic gymnast Simone Biles recently failed in her attempt at parallel bars amid the 2024 Gold Over America Tour (G.O.A.T). Notably, Biles and her team have been performing gymnastics and inspiring generations with their GOAT shows, running across the United States from September 17 to November 3.
Apart from Biles, the tour features prominent American female and male gymnasts including Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, Hezly Rivera, Joscelyn Roberson, Brody Malone, Fred Richard, Yul Moldauer, and Paul Juda, among others. Mélanie de Jesus dos Santos and retired Canadian gymnast turned content creator, Peng-Peng Lee, are some international gymnasts who are also a part of the team.
During one of the tour's rehearsal sessions, Simone Biles attempted to perform on the parallel bars, an apparatus typically used in men’s gymnastics and featured in the Summer Olympics. However, the 23-time World Championships gold medalist failed in her attempt to showcase her skills on the apparatus.
Biles took to her Instagram story on October 16 to share this moment with her fans and followers, captioning it:
“It was at this moment I knew I F😵💫😵💫KED UP”
She used the ‘spiral-shaped eyes’ emoji for the same, which indicated dizziness.

“Now it's just like showing up, being in a good head place”- When Simone Biles commented on how her definition of success evolved
Simone Biles reflected on how her definition of career success has evolved over time. In an exclusive interview with Olympics.com in October 2023, Biles shared that her focus was on showing up, maintaining good mental health, and enjoying the sport, rather than prioritizing the outcome. She said:
“Yeah, I think just showing up and whatever happens, happens. But I think what success means to me is a little bit different than before, because before everybody defined success for me, even if I had my own narrative that I wanted. So now it's just like showing up, being in a good head place, having fun out there, and whatever happens, happens, you know? So, yeah.”
Biles became a powerful inspiration for several athletes when she withdrew from multiple events including the 2020 Tokyo Olympics due to experiencing ‘Twisties,’ prioritizing her mental health. Her bold decision garnered huge praise from athletes across the sports world.
