Wrestler Jordan Burroughs will be competing at his tenth World Championships later this month, and he's gunning for gold. The American made his debut at the global competition in 2011, and has been among the medals in each edition he's ever participated in, winning six golds and three bronze.

For Burroughs, 2024 started out on a shaky note after he failed to qualify for the U.S Olympic Trials. Prior to the Trials, the wrestler had announced that he would retire this year if he failed to make it to the Paris Olympics. However, he has chosen to continue to compete. In September, the 36-year-old competed at the USA World Team Trials, taking down Chance Marsteller in the best-of-three finals to qualify for his 10th Senior World Championships.

In the latest episode of his series ‘Inside a Dream’, Jordan Burroughs revealed he had his Target set on big things at the World Championships.

“No one's ever arrived here. No ones been competing at this high level at this age. I am, I'm good. But I still seek my own personal challenge. So most people will be like ‘it's time to leave’, I'm like ‘I think I have more to give’. So that's my goal, it's to give what I have left,” he said.

In an earlier episode of ‘Inside a Dream’ Burroughs explained his mindset when he stopped into the ring, saying:

“Every time I step into an arena, I want to win. I believe I can win. I'm there to win. I've trained to win and I deserve to win. And so because of those things, my mindset is unwavering, regardless of the circumstances and what I'm up against. I'm here to win.”

The 2024 Wrestling World Championships are scheduled to take place between October 28 and 32 in Tirana, Albania. Jordan Burroughs will be competing in the 79 kg weight class, and his campaign at the competition will begin on Wednesday, October 30 with the qualification rounds. If he makes his way through those, the semifinals will be held later the same day, while the finals and repechage rounds are slated to begin on Thursday, October 31.
