Lindsey Vonn is one of the most successful skiers of all time, and she continues to take matters of physical fitness seriously even after calling time on her skiing career. Recently, the American shared an update on the progress of her knee months after undergoing knee replacement.

Vonn led an incredible career on the slopes, claiming four World Cup overall titles, 16 World Cup discipline titles, 82 World Cup wins, 137 World Cup podiums, and three Olympic medals. However, the 40-year-old was plagued with injuries throughout her career and underwent multiple surgeries for her issues.

In April earlier this year, Vonn had her right knee replaced and has since given fans regular updates on her recovery. Most recently, she shared a video of herself performing box jumps with her right leg, writing,

“What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!! It may seem insignificant, but I haven't been able to jump on my right leg like that for many, many years. Today I am SO much stronger than I was before! I literally had to take a moment and regroup... I got very emotional and I was so so happy. This is an incredible journey after surgery that I did not expect. Just another reminder to NEVER GIVE UP on yourself!!”

Lindsey Vonn first injured her right knee in February 2013, while competing at the World Championships. She was racing the Super G when she crashed, tearing her ACL and MCL, and suffering a tibial plateau fracture.

A few months after this, while making a comeback from her surgery at Beaver Creek, Vonn crashed at Copper Mountain and was diagnosed with a mild strain and partial tear in her right ACL. It was later revealed that she had suffered a complete ACL tear, which she compounded with MCL and joint damage when she skied the downhill in Val d’Isere in December.

These injuries forced the American to undergo a knee replacement, but she recently celebrated her surgery, saying it opened up a whole new chapter of life for her.

“Every day is a victory! Proud of how far I've come on this journey of life. I've had a lot of highs and a lot of lows but nothing has ever broken my spirit. I thank my Mother for that. With this new knee that is now a part of me... I feel like a whole new chapter of my life is unfolding before my eyes. My adventurous spirit feels full of gratitude. To do the things you love to do is truly a blessing and I don't take it for granted. I don't know exactly what lies ahead but I know I'm healthy, happy and grateful,” she wrote on Instagram.

Despite calling time in her skiing career in 2019, Lindsey Vonn has continued to stay connected to the sport. In 2023, she created history again when she became the first woman to ski the Streif.
