The American athlete had a successful 2024 season with her victories including the Paris Olympics, where she stood atop the podium after setting a world record in the 400m hurdles event. She recorded a time of 50.37s to claim first place, besting Anna Cockrell and Femke Bol, who registered 51.87s and 52.15s, respectively.

Following this triumph, the 25-year-old ran in invitational races at the Diamond League Final in Brussels. On Saturday, 21 September, she was inducted into the 2024 Hall of Fame of the University of Kentucky. During the ceremony, she delivered a heartfelt speech, reflecting on her time at the institution. She spoke about what she learned during her time at Kentucky, which included training like a pro, and household chores like doing her laundry - the last receiving laughs from the audience.

She said,

"It was here that I learned by watching other amazing athletes like Kenny Harrison, Omar McLoud, Leah Nugent, and Corey Carter, what it meant to be a pro and train like one. I learned what true friendship looks like and I learned how to do my laundry for the first time." (1:46- 2:00)

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone shared her gratitude and love for the University of Kentucky after being inducted into the Hall of Fame, in a post on social media.

She took to her Instagram account and shared a series of pictures, some showing the athlete on campus, and some from her speech. She added a heartfelt note in the caption, expressing her gratitude for being a part of the university.

The post's caption read:

"Once a wildcat, always a wildcat! 💙😊Beyond grateful to have been inducted into the 2024 class of the University of Kentucky Hall of Fame. Definitely bled blue while I was here, so much growth and adversity that led me to where I am now. Thank you to the UK fan base for always showing such love and treating me like family. 🫶🏽 much love! Go cats. ✨"

McLaughlin-Levrone improved her world record in the 400m hurdles for the sixth time at the Paris Olympics 2024. She is the first woman to break the 52s and 51s barrier in the event. She now has a total of four Olympic golds, of which two she won during the 2020 Tokyo Games and the other two in Paris this year.
