Tara Davis-Woodhall cheered tennis star Coco Gauff on as she competed in her first round match at the Paris Olympics. Gauff won in straight sets against Ajla Tomljanović of Australia with a score of 6-3, 6-0.
Davis-Woodhall hit the ground running at the beginning of the 2024 season and has not lost momentum. She won the gold medal at the World Athletics Indoor Championships held in Glasgow and went on to win the USATF New York City Grand Prix by recording a distance of 7.14m in the long jump.
She qualified for the 2024 Games after a dominant display at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials, winning the gold medal and embarking on her second Olympic campaign. At the opening ceremony on 26 July, she took to Instagram to share glimpses of her experience being on the contingent with LeBron James and Gauff, among other Team USA athletes.
On 28 July, after watching Gauff compete in the tennis event, Davis-Woodhall congratulated her compatriot on her R1 win via Instagram.
"I love Coco Gauff," she wrote.

Tara Davis-Woodhall qualified for the Paris Olympics after a spectacular performance in the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. She dominated the long jump by recording a distance of 7.07m, qualifying for her second consecutive Olympic Games.
Davis-Woodhall penned a heartfelt note after winning the gold medal at the Trials, calling it the "hardest" competition she had competed in ever in her career. She wrote in the caption of a photo she uploaded on Instagram:
"As I sit on the plane headed back home all I can think is “thank you.” thank you for just giving me a chance. that was the hardest competition I have ever had. I EARNED this spot. nothing ever comes easy in this world. you have to work for it. so blessed to be able to represent USA at the Olympics… AGAIN Tara Davis-Woodhall- x2 Olympian."
After a sixth-place finish at the Tokyo Olympics with a distance of 6.84m, Davis-Woodhall went on to bring about major changes in her performance, elevating herself as one of the best long jumpers this season. She will be aiming for her first Olympic medal at the 2024 Games in Paris.
