Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky recently appeared in the Unfiltered Waters podcast, hosted by Katie Hoff and Missy Franklin. During the episode, the swimmer opened up about her mindset on relationships and why she hasn't gotten into a relationship yet.

Ledecky had a brilliant campaign at the 2024 Paris Olympics. In her fourth Olympic Games, Ledecky won a total of four medals, including two gold medals. She stood atop the podium in the women's 800m freestyle event after clocking 8:11.04, ahead of Australian swimmer Ariarne Titmus, who clinched silver with 8:12.29.

The American swimmer also defended her 1500m freestyle title with a time of 15:30.02, besting Ansatasiya Kirpichnikova and Isabel Marie Gose.

Days after these accomplishments in Paris, Ledecky opened up about the connection between her sport and her mindset on relationships.

Katie Hoff questioned Ledecky about her take on relationships that she wrote in her book Just Add Water: My Swimming Life, to which the swimmer said that she never regrets her decision and was always focused on achieving greater heights in the sport. Ledecky said:

"I talk about some of the decisions I have made over the years, I mean I talked about the one school dance that I went to. I talked about the fact that I've never had a drink, just some of the decisions that I've made that I don't really see as sacrifices, I just see as decisions that I made because I want to be great in my sport and I decided that here are the list of things I want to do to achieve my goals," Katie Ledecky said (at 41:00).

Ledecky also mentioned that while she would love to date someone in the near future, it wasn't an area of concern for her right now, saying:

"Of course, I would love to date someone sometime and have a relationship. I'd love to have kids someday, so, I know that time will come, I'm not just putting that aside for swimming, but it's just not something I'm overly stressed about right now or happen and then always trying to make decisions that are healthy," she added.

Katie Ledecky opens up on her 'special' fourpeat at the 2024 Paris Olympics

Katie Ledecky has won a total of fourteen Olympic medals, and during the 2024 Olympics, the 27-year-old said that her 800m freestyle win at the Paris Olympics was "pretty special" for her. The triumph in the 800m at the French Capital marked Ledecky's fourth consecutive gold in that event. Speaking to NBC6 in August, she said:

"I think here in Paris, the one that meant the most to me was the 800m free. Just being able to four-peat in that event was pretty special. So, yeah, each one has a different story to it, different meaning, but I'm really happy with how all of my events went this week," Ledecky said.

Following this, Katie Ledecky also discussed her training and the coaches that helped her achieve success, adding:

"I had five really great years at Stanford, had some amazing time swimming, both collegiately and professionally, at Stanford, won a bunch of medals in Tokyo, and after Tokyo, I had already completed my degree at Stanford, and so was feeling an itch to get back closer to home, and there's a really great training group down at the University of Florida now. So, been training in Gainesville and really grateful for the coaches and teammates for pushing me and helping me achieve what I did here in Paris," she added.

The 27-year-old American swimmer currently holds the world record in the 800m and 1500m freestyle events. Including the Olympic games, World Championships, and Pan Pacific Championships, Katie Ledecky has 50 medals.
