Jordan Chiles received an adorable gift from her favorite pop icon, Beyonce, before she took off for the Paris Games. 'Queen Bey' congratulated Chiles on her monumental Olympic qualification by penning a congratulatory note on her studio album Cowboy Carter's cover.
Jordan Chiles, a three-time World medalist and a member of the silver-winning team at the Tokyo Olympics, booked her second Olympic seat after finishing in the all-around third at the 2024 US Olympic Trials. At the Olympic build-up event, the US Championships, she was also praised for her fashion quotient.
Chiles garnered praise for her Beyonce's Renaissance-inspired leotards, adorned with 4,400 Swarovski crystals. She performed her floor routine in a mix of Beyonce's songs and embraced a Queen Bey-inspired mantra: "I'm that girl", en route to the Paris Olympics.
Recently, Jordan Chiles' excitement went through the roof when Beyonce sent her a framed Cowboy Carter cover and signed it with a congratulatory note for the gymnast.
"Congratulations to you queen. I always watch you with pride and admiration! Good luck to you! All of your hard work and sacrifice shines bright. Praying for you and wishing the Best," the note read.
Chiles shot a video of the gift and posted it in her Instagram story, captioning:
"Ahhhhh!!! I’m screaming right now. Yall Beyonce sent me this and I’m crying!!!”
Jordan Chiles opened up on the reason behind choosing Beyonce's song line: 'I'm that girl'
Talking to Aly Raisman in an exclusive interview for Olympics.com, Chiles shared the reason behind choosing the "I'm that girl" slogan. She talked about extracting the three-word mantra from Beyonce's song. Chiles' rise to fame was reminiscent of Queen Bey's emergence as a pop icon at a very young age.
"I'm that girl actually came from a Beyoncé song. I recently went to her show that she had in Houston and I just went to watch the documentary. It just inspired me a lot, because you know, a lot of people take for granted on who Beyoncé really is," she said.
She added that like Beyonce, most athletes get into the spotlight young but can only navigate when they're older.
"For her, her childhood was crazy, and she became this childhood star, like she became Beyoncé at such a young age. I think, you know, I feel like that’s how it is with a lot of athletes, their name gets into the light so quickly that they don’t know how to contain or do anything with themselves until they get older."
She further added that 'I'm that girl' reaffirms the importance of going out there and performing at capacity when she wakes up and looks in the mirror.
"So it’s more of like an affirmation, it’s more of me being able to look into the mirror and be like, ‘okay, like you’re waking up, like you’re that girl, let’s go out there and do everything you need to do. That’s how I feel like going to the competition floor," she added.
Jordan Chiles will be joined by Simone Biles and Suni Lee on the US women's gymnastics team at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The team will look to improve their silver medal result achieved at the Tokyo Olympics.
