"I’m feeling weird" - Ilona Maher makes her feelings known about TikTok's potential ban in America

American union rugby player Ilona Maher recently shared her opinion on a probable TikTok ban in the United States. This would take place if the US Supreme Court were to validate a law in the country that would force the social media company to stop its operations in America.

Maher is one of the most followed rugby personalities on the platform with over 3M followers. She usually posts sarcastic content on her TikTok and other social media channels. Owing to this popularity, the 28-year-old was asked to share her opinion on this probable ban to the social media app in the United States.

In an interview, Maher shared that she is not worried about the TikTok ban situation as she has no role in the procedure. She also opened up about her smart move to grow her Instagram besides TikTok. She said (via The New York Times):

"I’m feeling weird. Because my sister and I joke about it like, ‘Oh thank god, release us from these shackles of watching TikTok all the time. I’m actually not too worried about it. In a way, I’m like well I can’t do anything about it. But again I was smart about it. I actually tried to grow a lot on Instagram and I knew that was a really good platform to grow on."

During the interview, Maher also stated that the public follows her a lot on Instagram as she uploads the same materials she posts on her TikTok handle. Maher started creating social media content during the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics and since then has built an immense presence in the field.

Ilona Maher opened up about the developing situation in women's rugby and sports. This came just after her second match in the Premiership Women's Rugby against the Chiefs in which she also scored a try and helped her side, Bristol Bears win the match.

In a press meeting, Maher stated that women's sports and rugby are growing in England and the world currently. She additionally also expressed her wish to the public so they can play and watch women's sports and rugby. She said (via The Independent):

"There is something special happening not just in England, but around the world in women’s sport and women’s rugby. My message is if I am what gets someone to experience rugby, then great. I want more people to play and watch."

Ilona Maher had opened up about her wish to do something for the growth of women's rugby in the past and uses her social media to bring attention to the sport.
