Mikaela Shiffrin recently penned a heartwarming note for her fiance Aleksander Aamodt Kilde for his strength in dealing with the challenges he faced after his serious crash at the World Cup downhill race in Wengen, Switzerland in January 2024. During the fall, he dislocated his shoulder and sustained a right leg laceration.
After the terrible accident, Kilde underwent surgery to fix a deep cut, nerve damage in his right calf, and two torn ligaments in his shoulder. He then engaged in rehab and returned to his normal routine, sharing updates about his progress on his Instagram account.
However, Kilde's life took another turn in July when an infection was discovered in his shoulder, requiring him to undergo six weeks of daily IV antibiotics until the infection was fully treated. In an Instagram post on October 23, Aleksander Kilde announced that he would need to undergo another surgery and rehabilitation, which is why he would be skipping competitions for the 2024-25 season.
Following this, Shiffrin took to her Instagram post where she wrote a heartwarming note as she expressed deep admiration for Kilde, writing:
“As you all know, it’s been a summer of ups and downs. Though I’m heartbroken for Aleks as he continues to deal with lingering injuries related to his horrific crash in Wengen, I am SO inspired by his drive, positivity, and overall attitude as he’s dealt with obstacle after obstacle. We could all learn some valuable lessons in perseverance and resilience from Aleks…he’s such a wonderful, inspiring human being and I’m just incredibly thankful to have him in my life.”
She also shared her gratitude to the fans for the love and support, adding:
“Thank you all for the ongoing love and support you’ve shown him throughout this challenging journey. ❤️”
