" I can't move"- Mikaela Shiffrin breaks silence after devastating crash at the World Cup during attempt for 100th World Cup Title

Mikaela Shiffrin has spoken out for the first time since her recent crash at the World Cup in Killington. The American skier veered off the track and lost control during her second run of the World Cup giant slalom race, resulting in a crash near the finish line.

Soon after the crash, Shiffrin braced on to the ground before being attended by the Ski Patrol team. The team took her off the hill in a sledge. The US Ski team shared an update that Shiffrin had been taken to the medical center for further evaluation.

"Mikaela took the sled down and is currently being evaluated. More info to come, but take solace in the fact that she asked about her splits@MikaelaShiffrin," read the statement.

Hours later, Shiffrin took to X to share an update with her fans. The American athlete revealed that she had an abrasion which had an impact on her movement.

"Hi guys not too much cause for concern right it's just that I just can't move. I have a pretty good abrasion and something stabbbed me under her fingers. It's just so that I can't move. I am so sorry to scare everybody and it looks like all the scans are clear so far," she said.

Furthermore, Shiffrin thanked her fans for their unwavering support and also congratulated the winner and top performers at the World Cup giant slalom in Killington.

"Thank you for the suppport and concern and congratulations to the winners and my teammmates for their performances. On more thing to add as I am just actually seeing the results Paul and Nina also with career bests just very happy for you guys," she added.

Ever since Mikaela Shiffrin embarked on her 2024/25 season, her pursuit of the 100th World Cup win has been a constant topic of discussion among fans and enthusiasts. The American skier has openly discussed the challenges of managing expectations while competing in major races, acknowledging that it can be both distracting and nerve-wracking.

“When I keep my mindset focused on skiing well, on implementing the tools, tactics, and fundamentals that I’ve been working on in training—that’s when my competition is at its highest level. There have been years where I’ve been more aware of expectations, maybe even a little distracted by them," the 29-year-old said.

Furthermore, she has shared that she relies on her team for support and reflects on her rigorous preparation to boost her self-belief and calm her nerves before each event..
