Sha'Carri Richardson opened up this week about her preference for coaches to talk straight about any shortcomings she may have. The American athlete is preparing for next season, after a successful 2024.
Richardson won two medals at the 2024 Paris Games, one gold and one silver. She clinched gold in the 4x100m relay dash, accompanying Gabby Thomas, Melissa Jefferson, and Twanisha Terry, atop the podium after the team clocked 41.78s. The American also competed in the 100m dash, finishing second after clocking 10.87s behind Julien Alfred, who recorded 10.72s to clinch gold.
Sha'Carri Richardson is currently in her off-season and was recently featured on the cover of Essence magazine. In the interview for the cover, she opened up on various aspects of her life, including what kind of relationship she wants with her coaches. Richardson said:
"Like, if I am doing what I'm doing, like, I like for my coach to tell me exactly what is on his brain, no feel too raw because at the end of the day, I'm gonna give it right back to him the same way. But at the same time, I know that it comes from such a genuine place of wanting to pull the best out of me no matter what to point where even he may, he's willing to go and get nothing against me, but going against myself to pull out of me what I need.
"So, I'd be like, coach, give it to me straight. Like, I don't need no baby talk. Don't talk to me. Let me know what's up, I love that."
