Shawn Johnson shared that she holds no will to be back at the Olympics since the mindset of being 'perfect' and 'unbeatable' shut down after her gymnastics retirement. Johnson now boasts a whopping 4.3m followers on Instagram, posting relatable videos with her family.
Shawn Johnson, the five-time Pan American Games champion, amassed ten podiums across major championships. She won three golds in the all-around, floor, and team competitions at the 2007 World Championships in Stuttgart. The same year, she swept four golds in the team, all-around, uneven bars and balance beam, and a silver in the floor routine.
The following year, she unfurled her prowess at the 2008 Olympic Games, securing gold in the balance beam and silver medals in the team, all-around and floor. While the world still hails her for the gymnastics success stories, Johnson has no plan to return to the Olympic mat since she doesn't feel the drive anymore.

Johnson missed out on making the 2012 Summer Olympics finals because of a persisting knee issue. After her retirement in 2012, she wished to compete after watching the gymnasts perform at the Olympics. However, this time was unlike other years, since her social media presence as a public person took over Olympic contemplation.
"Everything was so polished. It was so perfect. Now, I would say my brand is as far from that as humanly possible. My husband and I, we aim to just be relatable, to show people that perfection, though attainable at a competitive level, is not realistic within a lifestyle of a family," she added.
Shawn Johnson praised the age diversity of the US women's gymnastics team en route to Paris
Shawn Johnson commended the four Olympic repeaters, Simone Biles, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, and Suni Lee, for bringing wisdom and experience to the front after their Tokyo Olympic stint in 2021. Since Hezyl River, the youngest qualifier will compete for the first time, Shawn Johnson confirmed that she is under the protection of experienced teammates.
"You have this statement to the world happening with USA gymnastics that it's brand-new and better than ever.... To see four, wise, experienced, repeating girls mentoring a 16-year-old going to the Olympics, I think it's just the most beautiful thing ever, as a former gymnast. I think Hezly is so incredibly protected by those girls." she shared. (via Newsweek)
Johnson and her husband, Andrew East, introduced the Moment Makers Grant and set aside $250,000 for parent athletes in need of childcare at the Games.
