Simone Biles spoke about the backlash that she received after withdrawing from the Tokyo Olympics due to "twisties". The American gymnast spoke about the aftermath of the incident that had a profound impact on her however, she managed to recover from the setback with the support of her husband and family.

She spoke about the intricacies of the aftermath of her withdrawal from the Tokyo Olympics in her latest Netflix Documentary series 'Simone Biles: Rising'. Netflix released the first two episodes before the Olympics' commencement, raising heavy anticipation among fans as the American gymnast aims to make a comeback on the pinnacle stage after disappointment in the previous edition of the games.

Biles spoke about receiving heavy backlash on social media after her withdrawal in the first episode of the documentary series. She lashed out at people for calling her a 'quitter'. As Biles read posts on social media from fans, she exclaimed about not needing validation from them.

"I really don't need your two cents. And not your two cents because you guys can't even do a cartwheel," she said.

After she withdrew moments before the finals of the team event, Jordan Chiles replaced her on the balance beam and uneven bars. Ultimately the team finished second and Biles concluded her Tokyo Olympic campaign with a silver medal.

After the Tokyo Olympics withdrawal, Biles spoke to Today and revealed that she would be following a different approach while training for her third consecutive Olympic Games in Paris. Along with her team, she has decided to take things slowly and listen to her body at every training step.

Moreover, she would continue to focus on her mental health by attending regular therapy sessions.

"I think I have to take care of myself a little bit more and listen to my body and making sure that I'm making time for the important things in my life rather than before," she said.
"It was just like, go, go, go, and, then, making time after. This time around, it's like being intentional, going to therapy, making sure everything is aligned so that I can do the best in the gym and be, like, a good wife, a good daughter, a good friend, all the good things," she added.

Simone Biles will be in action on Sunday, 28 July 2024 in the qualifying rounds of women's gymnastics at the Paris Olympics.
