Noah Lyles' Jamaican partner, Junelle Bromfield, recently expressed her gratitude to the sprinter for being by her side after she lost her brother. She narrated the incident and recounted how he was there for her even though the two were not dating at the time.
Lyles and Bromfield met each other when the latter slid into his social media DMs in 2017, and the duo got along well. However, they remained friends for several years before finally starting dating in 2022, and they have had each other's backs ever since. Bromfield has been spotted cheering Lyles during various competitions, and she was also there at the Paris Olympics when he bagged the 100m gold. The two shared a hug following Lyles' photo finish.
However, their relationship has constantly been targeted by fans online, but the couple has managed to get through ups and downs together. Acknowledging her support in an Instagram post on Saturday, August 17, Noah Lyles shared a heartfelt message for her and wrote:
"I just want to say how incredibly proud I am of my GF and give her the flowers she deserves now. She has been through so much in her life that I could never imagine fighting through. Beyond that she is a survivor, 2x Olympian, Olympic medalists, Multi world championship medalist, and has been representing Jamaica on the world stage since she was 8 years old."
He added:
"But the most impressive thing I’ve seen recently is how she’s dealt with the pure disrespect and hatred towards her from her own country. This woman has been attacked by people who have never met her, heard her name before, never seen her smile, or heard what she believes in. But she keeps moving forward knowing that God will always make a way. Thats why God keeps blessing her!"
Reacting to the post in the comments, Bromfield also expressed her gratitude to Lyles for supporting her during the tough times, especially after she lost her brother in 2019. Bromfield wrote:
"Thank you baby For always supporting long before we even started dating . I remember 2019 you had just became World Champion and my brother passed away around that time in the midst celebrating one of your biggest achievements. You tried so hard to make me feel better to help me see the positive in life and how god will always pull me out of a dark situation."
She added:
"Christmas that year I didn’t receive any gifts . When you found out that you made it your duty to buy me whatever I wanted because you said Christmas is about giving and no friend of yours will go without a gift . That’s the type of person you are I love and appreciate you always."
How Noah Lyles and Junelle Bromfield performed at the Paris Olympics
Noah Lyles claimed the first Olympic gold of his career following a historic 100m win against Kishane Thompson and Fred Kerley. Lyles clocked 9.79 seconds to stand atop the podium. He then participated in the 200m event to achieve the Olympic double.
Although he tested positive for COVID-19 before the 200m finals, the Florida native still managed to secure a bronze with a time of 19.70 seconds. Noah Lyles had to miss out on the relay events due to health concerns.
In contrast, 26-year-old Bromfield made it to the semi-finals of the 400m event at the Paris Olympics. But, after finishing eighth with a time of 51.93 seconds, she could not advance to the finals.
