Mondo Duplantis' fiancée Desiré Inglander recently opened up about being hesitant for their first date. She acknowledged feeling nervous before going out with the pole vaulter because she had never been on a date before.
Duplantis broke his own world record, surpassing 6.25 meters to win the pole vault gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Two months after his victory, he proposed to his long-time girlfriend.
In October 2024, the pole vault star planned a surprise proposal in the Hamptons, telling his fiancée they were there for a Vogue Scandinavia editorial shoot. As the shoot began, he dropped down to one knee and proposed to Inglander.
Duplantis shared the moment on Instagram, captioning it with a heartfelt note. He wrote:
I'm the luckiest man in the world"
Following the proposal, Inglander shared her side of the story with Vogue Scandinavia.
When they first met in 2020, she had just graduated and wasn't ready to date. However, before Duplantis returned to the US to continue his training, he convinced her to go out on a date with him.
She recalled:
"I was so scared, I had never been on a date."
Desiré Inglander revealed that their first date was at a 'cute bar' in Kungsholmen, Sweden.
At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Inglander cheered on in the stands as her then-boyfriend, Mondo Duplantis, broke the pole vault world record.
