Rebeca Andrade, one of the biggest contenders for Simone Biles, recently opened up about her future plans, weeks after winning a gold medal in the Paris Olympics. She concluded her 2024 season with a total of four medals.
The Brazilian gymnast won one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal, in her 2024 Summer Olympics campaign. She bagged a gold medal in the women's floor exercise, where she registered a score of 14.166 and bested Biles and Anna Barbosu, who attained 14.133 and 13.700 points, claiming second and third place, respectively.
Following this, she won a silver medal in the individual all-around event with 57.932 points. She was bested by Biles, who scored 59.131 points to stand atop the podium, while Suni Lee was in the third, recording a score of 56.465 points. Another silver bagged by Andrade was in the women's vault, where she attained 14.966 points and was bested by Biles, who secured first place by scoring 15.300 points.
Andrade nabbed a bronze medal in the team all-around event, where she and her team scored 164.497 points. Days after these wins, she sat down in an interview with Vogue, where she spoke about her future possibilities at the Olympic games. She unveiled that despite thinking that the Paris Olympics was her last, she still wondered about her participation in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, as quoted by Vogue.com.
"Every time an Olympics ends , I say I won’t return to the next one. This year I was sure it would be my last, but I’m here and thinking about the possibility of going to Los Angeles 2028. But after that, for the love of God, give me a break, let me stop," said Andrade.

In the aforementioned interview, Rebeca Andrade also opened up about the reason behind her participation in the Paris Olympics. She said that she wanted her mother to watch her perform since she couldn't during the Tokyo Olympics. She exuded happiness about seeing her mother excited and proud because of her win.
"I had decided that I was going to end my career after these Olympics, so I wanted my mother to be able to watch me at least once, since she couldn't go to Tokyo. Seeing her excited and proud, celebrating my achievements was the most beautiful moment of this edition for me," said Andrade.
Rebeca Andrade made her Olympic debut in the 2016 Rio Olympics alongside Simone Biles. The Brazilian gymnast currently holds six Olympic medals, two during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the vault and individual all-around events, and the other four during the Paris Olympics.
