Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay has reflected on a cherished moment, recalling the inspiring sight of the Paris Olympics gold medalist Jordan Chiles draping her medal around the American actress's daughter's neck. Chiles clinched a gold medal in the team event at the French capital.
The American squad, including Chiles, Simone Biles, Jade Carey, Suni Lee, and Hezly Rivera dominated the women's team event after collecting a whopping 171.296 points to defeat the Italian and Brazilian squads, who scored 165.494 and 164.497 points, respectively.
Following their victory, Chiles and Lee attended the media engagement presentation. They were welcomed by a few celebrities, including Snoop Dogg and Hargitay. While Chiles was stunned to meet Hargitay, who was accompanied by her daughter Amaya, the American actress was equally astonished when Chiles hung her gold medal around her daughter's neck.
In a recent interview with Today, Hargitay reminisced on how joyful she felt.
"Well, I have to tell you, that moment for me, I was feeling the exact same way," Hargitay said. "I was so just overcome."
"Jordan Chiles taking off her Olympic gold and putting it on Amaya, I was like, 'If I die right now, I'm fine,'" added Hargitay.
Hargitay and her husband Peter Hermann welcomed Amaya into their family through adoption in 2011.
Recent developments on Jordan Chiles' bronze medal debacle at the Paris Olympics

Jordan Chiles was stripped of her bronze medal in the floor event at the 2024 Paris Games after a series of confusing events. Chiles was promoted from fifth place to third, settling ahead of Romania's Ana Barbosu, after her coach Cecile Landi issued an inquiry.
However, after Romania's appeal to CAS, stating Landi issued the inquiry after the permitted time, Chiles was forced to forfeit the medal. In a recent development, the American gymnasts' attorney Maurice M. Suh has submitted a new application to the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland.
The application stated that the new video captured by the documentary crew has video and audio recordings that can alter the decision of CAS. According to CNN, along with Chiles' attorney, USA Gymnastics also filed an appeal to reconsider CAS's decision on Chiles' bronze medal on September 24, 2024.
Chiles secured her first Olympic gold medal in Paris after bagging a silver in the team event at the Tokyo Games.
