Ilona Maher and her dance partner Alan Bersten reunited two weeks after the Dancing with the Stars finale in November. Recently, the rugby player shared a humorous video capturing their playful encounter.
In the comedic reunion, the pair posted an Instagram reel showcasing their lighthearted interaction. They had been apart for two weeks after finishing as DWTS runner-ups.
The video begins with Bersten sitting at a table, lost in thought, reflecting on his time without his dance partner. Unbeknownst to him, Maher silently sneaked up behind him with a mischievous grin.
As she approached and asked for the chair, Bersten responded:
"I'm holding space for my old dance partner."
The TikTok sensation, without missing a chance to inject humor, admired herself, joking about her reflection. However, Bersten retorted, calling her voice 'annoying.'
Suddenly, the American professional dancer turned around, and upon seeing her, both let out screams before sharing a hug. In the Instagram post, the 28-year-old wrote:
"First time seeing each other in two weeks."
Ilona Maher, a two-time medalist at the Pan American Games- winning a silver in 2019 and gold in 2023, helped the US women's Rugby Sevens team secure a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Maher is also known for her comedic persona on social media. She and Bersten have continued to share their fun dynamic post-DWTS.
Alan Bersten poked fun at Ilona Maher for her Pigeon Papparazi video
Ilona Maher and Alan Bersten have been adjusting to life after Dancing with the Stars wrapped up in November. Recently, Maher shared a video in which she noticed a pigeon seemingly eyeing her while she was out for a snack. Pointing at the bird, she quipped:
"They followed me, they always want a shot."
Reflecting on the bronze medalist video, Bersten posted his own humorous clip, where he whispered into a fake pigeon. He later shared Maher's reel alongside his own.
"Alright, we talked about this before, you know what to do," he whispered into the fake pigeon.
Bersten captioned the video:
"Just checking up on @ilonamaher"
Maher jokingly commented on his video:
"I had a feeling that was you..."
Maher recently signed a contract with Bristol Bears and is expected to compete in the 2025 Premiership Women's Rugby World Cup, while Bersten is set to star in the DWTS 2025 live show.
