American track and field star Brittany Brown recently revealed that she made significant fortunes just a few hours after her impressive performance at the Athlos NYC, a one-of-a-kind, women-only track meet created by Reddit co-founder, Alexis Ohanian.
Brown made her Summer Games debut at this year's Paris Olympics and secured the first Olympic medal—a bronze—by placing third in the 200m event with a time of 22.20 seconds. After the Paris Games and the Diamond League, the Fontana native participated in the Athlos NYC on Thursday, September 26.
The competition is an all-female meet spearheaded by Ohanian to promote women in sports. On race day, Brown emerged victorious in the 200m event against a star-studded lineup that included the reigning 200m Olympic champion, Gabby Thomas. The 29-year-old won the race in 22.18 seconds and took second place in the 100m race. For her outstanding performance, Brown bagged $85,000 in prize money and was also awarded a Tiffany & Co. crown.
In a tweet made on Saturday, Brittany Brown compared her Athlos NYC earnings to the base shoe contract amounts earned by professional track and field athletes. She emphasized that even if she had won both 100m and 200m at the Diamond League finals, she still wouldn't have made this much money.
"In 33 seconds I made some pro track and field athletes base shoe contract. Do you understand that ? Even if wouldve won both the 100 and 200 at the DL final I still wouldn’t have made the amount of money I made last night. INVESTMENT." She wrote in the tweet
