German track athlete Alica Schmidt shared glimpses of her new look amid the festivities of the new year. This comes ahead of the 2025 track and field season where she will be running a new distance, the 800m dash.
Owing to this, the 26-year-old has started her preparations and has also taken to high-altitude training in the mountains to prepare for this change of distance. Her last 800m race came just after the 2024 Olympics where she ran during the Internationales Nordthuringer Leichtathletikmeeting, finishing sixth in the race after clocking a run-time of 2:05.22.
Amid these training sessions, Schmidt was recently spotted in an off-track avatar. She took to her Instagram handle to share a glimpse of this new look. She opened up about wanting to make 2025 an exceptional year for herself in the caption. She wrote:

Competing for the German national team, Alica Schmidt had some impressive performances during her U20 and U23 years. She won a silver medal in a 4x400m relay event at the European U20 Championships and a bronze in the same event at the European U23 Championships.
Alica Schmidt shared some major highlights of her 2024 season
Alica Schmidt recently reflected on the 2024 track season and discussed some of her major highlights from the year.
In an Instagram post, Schmidt stated that 2024 was superb for her and she made numerous memories over the season. She also mentioned some of the major notable events of the season. She wrote:
"It’s been quite a year 🤯 It was filled with so many highlights and I made some memories that will last forever: 🇧🇸 from the world relays in the Bahamas, where we qualified the mixed relay for the Olympics to the European championships in Rome, where we qualified the women’s 4x400m for Paris 🇩🇪 to the German nationals and of course: THE OLYMPICS."
Schmidt also explained her decision to make the shift from the 400m to 800m in the upcoming season in the post.
The 2024 World Relays mentioned in the post was a major event for Schmidt this year. She and her team finished fourth in the Women's 4x400m event during the second qualifying heats of the competition to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
