Ever since she retired from the track in 2022, Felix has been quite busy with her motherhood duties. As a member of the IOC Athletes Commission, she also took the decision to set up a child nursery for mother athletes at the Paris Olympics. Notably, she was also associated with the initiative to offer free childcare for the mothers voting during the 2024 US Presidential elections.
The seven-time Olympic gold medalist has also been occasionally seen on the track running and trying some other sports such as tennis.
Allyson Felix sheds light on the developing situation for women in various fields
Allyson Felix recently opened up about the improving situation for women in various fields such as business and strategy.
In a BBC interview published in December 2024, Felix stated that women shouldn't be considered second thoughts to their male counterparts. She also mentioned that she had to deal with a table comprising of male officials during negotiations with her then-sponsor, Nike, and also added that as times are changing, women are also getting opportunities to be in those positions. She said:
"Traditionally, women have been put in the same box [as men]. I think women shouldn't be an afterthought, especially as we think about the business and how strategy is created. In all of the negotiations with Nike, I was dealing with a team of all men, who were basically telling me how I would come back from childbirth. Now there are more women who have seats at the table and have power."
Allyson Felix also raised her concerns regarding the security of female athletes on the track. She remarked that there is a need to bring a change to the existing culture.
