Caeleb Dressel returned to the pool after triumphing at the 2024 US Olympic Swim Trials. He let his son have a feel of the swimming pool during the weekend as the father-and-son duo bonded in the waters.
Caeleb Dressel won 31 gold medals across major championships, including the Worlds and Olympics. He became the first male swimmer in swimming history to sweep the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, and 100m butterfly titles at a single Summer Games. His impressive resume includes seven Olympic gold medals and world records in 50m freestyle (short course), 100m individual medley (short course), and 100m butterfly (short course and long course).
At the recently concluded Olympic Trials, Dressel finished third in the 100m freestyle and was relegated to the 4x100m relay team for the Olympics. Soon after, he won the 50m freestyle and earned an individual Paris qualification.
The winning moment was even more special to Caeleb Dressel since his wife and son were present in the audience. August Wilder Dressel, the four-month-old munchkin, got a taste of the Olympic trials at such a tender age.
Soon after, he accompanied his father to the pool during the weekend, before the latter hit the Paris swimming pool. In a carousel of photos posted by Dressel on Instagram, the father-and-son duo spent a playful time in the waters.
"Family weekend with Team USA 🇺🇸," the caption read.
Caeleb and his wife Meghan Dressel have been teenage sweethearts since 2013 and swam under the same high school program Bolles Sharks. They got engaged in 2019 and tied the knot in 2021. In October 2023, the couple announced the arrival of their first child, who graced their arms in February 2024.
Caeleb Dressel enjoys time at his home farm away from the career pressure
Caeleb Dressel withdrew from the 2022 World Championships midway through the competition, citing medical reasons. He then spent nine months away from the pool until he returned in May 2023.
Amid healing, he spent much time at his home on a farm in Gainesville, Florida, raising chickens and cows and riding a tractor. He even raises his son, August Wilder Dressel, at home away from the hustle-bustle.
"Living out here is I just, I feel normal. I think that’s what a majority of professional athletes, what we all crave…It’s just very peaceful out here," he said. (via SwimSwam)
Dressel will look to defend both his 50m freestyle and 4x100m freestyle relay title at the 2024 Paris Olympics, slated for July 26-August 11, 2024.
