Elaine Thompson-Herah showed off her black-and-blue outfit and expressed excitement about the new era of her life. The Jamaican sprint legend failed to defend her 100m and 200m titles at the Paris Games after hurting her Achilles tendon at the 2024 New York Grand Prix.
Thompson-Herah, the fastest woman alive in the 100m and the second-fastest behind world record holder Florence Griffith-Joyner, achieved the 'sprint double' as the first-ever female sprinter. She won the 100m and 200m titles at the 2016 Rio Olympics and successfully defended both at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Besides, she also won the 4x100m relay event at the latter Games. The same year, she soared to the 100m victory at the Diamond League finals, adding her third title to the DL repertoire.
Her stellar season was honored with the World Athletics Female Athlete of the Year award and several other accolades. In 2022, she earned the 100m bronze at the World Championships. Having finished with the same at the 2023 Prefontaine Classic, Elaine Thompson-Herah aimed to make the Jamaican Olympic team defend her titles for the second consecutive time.
However, she suffered an Achilles tendon injury at the New York Grand Prix, thus losing her chance to qualify for the Paris Games. On November 7, 2024, the 32-year-old showed off her outfit (black top and denim skirt), expressing anticipation for a better life having stepped into a new era.
"I love that feeling when you know you’re stepping into a new era of yourself and it’s gonna be for the better," she wrote.
After her Olympics heartbreak, the sprinter took off on a Jamaican vacation, visiting picturesque settings in Portland. She flaunted her natural Afro puffs in a picture carousel, captioned:

In her Instagram post from July 2024, Thompson-Herah reflected on her injury-marred season and Paris Olympics setback and how she planned to return to the track with a stronger mindset.
"It’s a long road but I am willing to start over and keep working and to make full recovery and resume my track career. I am hurt and devastated to be missing the Olympic this year but at the end of the day it’s sports and my health comes first..."
Elaine Thompson-Herah was part of the 4x100m relay team that won the silver at the 2023 World Championships but didn't earn any individual podium.
