Femke Bol is enjoying her off-season following her remarkable 2024 campaign. Recently, she traveled to Sicily, Italy, with her boyfriend Ben Broeders, where they explored the beautiful sights together.
The 24-year-old began her athletics season by smashing the 400m indoor world record at the Dutch Indoor Championships with a time of 49.24s. In less than a month, she once again shattered the global record at the stage of the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships to win the indoor 400m title. She then played a key role in the Netherlands’ gold medal performance in the women’s 4x400 m relay at the event.
Bol then displayed her brilliance during the outdoor events, assisting the Dutch mixed 4x400m relay team in its silver medal win at the 2024 World Athletics Relays in the Bahamas. She also competed at the European Athletics Championships where she collected two golds in the 400m hurdles and women’s 4x400m relay, and bronze in the mixed 4x400m relay.
At the Paris Olympics, Bol won three medals, which included gold in the 4x400m mixed relay, silver in the women’s 4x400m relay, and bronze in the 400m hurdles. She concluded her 2024 journey by claiming her fourth Diamond League title in the 400m hurdles after clocking 52.45s in Brussels.
Following the end of her 2024 track season, Bol took a trip to Sicily with her boyfriend Ben Broeders, also a track and field athlete who specializes in pole vault. She shared multiple pictures from the trip on her Instagram story.

Femke Bol expresses gratitude to boyfriend Ben Broeders and others following Paris Olympics campaign
After wrapping up her Paris Olympics campaign with three medals, Femke Bol took to her Instagram to express gratitude to her boyfriend, coaches, family, friends, and teammates, among others for their support throughout. She captioned the post:
“THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I’m surrounded by so many amazing people, my team is everything and I love being on this crazy journey with all of you.”
She then wrote a personal note for each person who contributed to her journey. For Ben Broeders, she added:
“To my boyfriend, my rock through all the highest and lowest moments and everything in between, I love doing life with you,” Femke Bol wrote.
Notably, the two first met during the COVID-19 pandemic and eventually started their relationship.
