Femke Bol dropped pictures from her off-season Sicilian vacation with boyfriend and pole vaulter, Ben Broeders. After her success at the Paris Olympics, the Dutch 400m hurdles specialist also lifted her fourth consecutive Diamond trophy.
Bol has been making waves in the track world since 2020, the year that marked her debut Games appearance in Tokyo, where she earned bronze in 400m hurdles. In the absence of her arch-rival and world record holder Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone at the 2023 World Championships, Bol clinched gold medals in the 400m hurdles and 4x400m relay.
In 2024, she recorded some stellar performances, starting with her indoor 400m world record break at the Dutch Indoor Championships, followed by lowering the world record time at the 2024 World Indoor Championships. She catapulted the 4x400m relay team to victory at the World Relays and added two more golds at the European Championships.
After finishing with the bronze in 400m hurdles, silver in women's 4x400m relay, and a gold in mixed x400m relay at the Paris Games, the 24-year-old traveled miles for an off-season vacation in Sicily with her boyfriend and Olympic pole vaulter, Ben Broeders.
In her recent Instagram photo carousel, she compiled her best picks from her trip, which featured her and Broeders in picturesque settings. The slides had Bol in a stunning black dress walking on the beach, followed by the couple posing in front of the Temple of Concordia, the hurdler indulging in a breakfast bowl by the sea, their hiking adventures, and pizza-making sessions.
Femke Bol also added some beach snaps and the Noto Cathedral, Sicily.
"Sicily. Off season has been good," her caption read.
On October 16, 2024, the four-time Olympic medalist posted an Instagram story of their hiking adventures.
Femke Bol shared thoughts on her 2024 season
In September, the four-time World medalist took to her Instagram post to proudly list down her achievements while capping off her 2024 track season with the Diamond League trophy.
"Season 2024. It’s been an absolutely crazy year full of moments I’ll cherish forever. From world indoor champion in a world record to defending our European titles, going sub51 on the 400 hurdles, to winning at the Olympics and finishing it off as Diamond League Trophy winner in Brussels," she mentioned in her comment.
The Dutch further added:
The road to all of this has been just as beautiful as the achievements, thanks to my amazing team."
Femke Bol also recorded world-best performances in the 500m short track and 300m hurdles. She stood at No.1 in the 400m hurdles in the World Athletics Rankings for four seasons, 2021 to 2024.
