Leyla Blackwell pens a heartfelt note for Nebraska Volleyball as she bids goodbye to the team
Leyla Blackwell recently opened up about her time at the Nebraska Cornhuskers. This comes just a few days after she bid goodbye to the program after their loss against Penn State Nittany Lions in the final four of the NCAA Championships.
In an Instagram post, Blackwell called her time at the Huskers "the best gift" of 2024 and also expressed her pride in the team and its performances. She also thanked her teammates and expressed her gratitude to them in the post. Blackwell wrote:
"The best gift of all this year. So endlessly grateful for @huskervb and everyone who was a part of this incredible experience. Although my time as a husker was short it was oh so sweet, and I’m so proud of this team and the special season we had. I am so blessed to have been surrounded by the best humans for the last couple months, and thank you to my teammates."
Leyla Blackwell spent her fifth collegiate year with the Huskers after moving from San Diego. She won impressive accolades with her previous team and is also the record holder for the most number of block assists in a single season. She achieved the feat in 2022 when Blackwell recorded 152 block assists.
