Nebraska volleyball's Harper Murray was in attendance at the Yankee Stadium to cheer for boyfriend, quarterback Heinrich Haarberg as Huskers football defeated Boston in the Pinstripe Bowl clash. It marked the first time the Huskers won the bowl game since 2015.
Murray shared pictures from her trip to the Yankees Stadium on Sunday night after cheering for Huskers Football during their Saturday night win against Boston. She was pictured with Haarberg and a few of her Nebraska teammates including beach volleyball partner Laney Choboy.
"husker win in the 718 @pinstripebowl," she captioned the post
She shared a heartwarming note for Haarberg on her Instagram story after the quarterback played a crucial role in the Huskers' 20-15 victory over Boston, calling herself the proudest girlfriend in the world.
"I'm the proudest girlfriend in the world. I love you! Pinstripe [email protected]," Harper wrote.
Murray joined Nebraska for the 2023 season, and after garnering All-American honors in her first year, the 19-year-old was hoping to win her first national championship before being upset by Penn State in the NCAA Semifinals last week.
Huskers were cruising towards victory after winning both of the first sets, 25-23, 25-18. However, the Nittany Lions roared back in the last three sets to register a reverse sweep and head into the finals, where they defeated Louisville 3-1 to lift the 2024 NCAA Volleyball Championships.
Harper Murray pens emotional note following NCAA exit
After Penn State Nittany Lions ended the 2024 season for Harper Murray and Nebraska Volleyball, the 19-year-old penned an emotional note for her teammates for supporting and lifting her mood throughout the season when she was struggling with mental health issues.
Murray termed the support the greatest gift she could ever receive and added:
"I have never been more proud. This group of girls helped me find a smile that I thought was gone forever and I am so damn proud. Being surrounded by people who refuse to give up on you and stay by your side is the biggest gift of all time. I love this team with all of my heart and am forever grateful for every memory we have together."
Reflecting on the 2024 season, Murray said she was proud of the team's growth and vowed to come back better and harder next year.
"Volleyball isnt about wins, losses, kills, stats ... its about finding the positive and being proud of the growth we have made as people and to enjoy what we did together. Gbr forever see you next year," Harper added.
The 19-year-old will shoulder extra responsibility next season after senior players Lexi Rodriguez and Merritt Beason left the team following the end of their collegiate careers.
