The Paris Olympics 2024 are on the horizon, with less than three days left until the event kicks off. A total of 32 sports will be hosted by the French event, with gymnastics being one of them.
The Bercy Arena, also known as Accor Arena, situated in the neighborhood of Bercy on Boulevard de Bercy in the 12th district, will be hosting the gymnastics event from July 27 to August 5. Known for its distinctive pyramid design, it has hosted several prestigious sports and cultural events, like the European women's handball championship in 2018, the Rolex Paris Masters, Daft Punk's concerts, and several others.
The facility was renovated between 2014 and 2015 to ensure the smooth hosting of various sports like athletics, ice hockey, etc. Situated 15 Km away from the Olympics Village, the arena will also be hosting basketball and trampoline events in addition to gymnastics.
Gymnastics Now posted inside images of the venue on their X handle (formerly Twitter), along with the following caption:
"Almost go time at Bercy Arena! Check out this first look at the artistic and trampoline gymnastics arena from @paris2024 before podium training begins on July 24! Competition starts with qualifying on July 27."
The official handle of the Paris Olympics 2024 also shared detailed pictures of the facility and gymnastics apparatuses. They tweeted:
"Where balance meets bravery: The world’s best gymnasts will take the floor at Bercy Arena on July 27th!"
Furthermore, American Olympic champion Simone Biles and silver medalist Jordan Chiles also shared pictures of the training venues on their respective Instagram handles.
The gymnastics schedule for Paris Olympics 2024
Both men's and women's gymnastics will feature athletes showcasing their skills on a variety of apparatuses. The men's events include pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars, floor exercise, and high bar. In contrast, female gymnasts will compete in vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise.
The gymnastics events will kick off with men's subdivision 1, subdivision 2, and subdivision 3 qualifications on July 27, while female gymnasts will be participating on July 28 in subdivision 1, subdivision 2, subdivision 3, and subdivision 4 qualifications.
