With less than 10 days left for the most-anticipated Paris Olympics, Joscelyn Roberson exuded her readiness for the Games. Roberson will join the seven-member team, including Hezly Rivera, Suni Lee, Simone Biles, Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, and Leanne Wong, as an alternate in Paris.
Roberson earned the spot to punch the ticket for her debut Olympics by securing sixth place in the all-around event by collecting a total of 110.975 points at the 2024 U.S. Gymnastics Trials in Minnesota, Minneapolis. She settled in second place behind Hezly Rivera with 27.975 points.
The 2023 World Championships gold medalist followed Biles, Carey, and Chiles in the floor exercise after bagging 27.85 points. Moreover, she also settled in the fourth in the vault event, collecting 28.825 points. Along with Roberson, Wong will join the American gymnastics squad as a traveling alternate.
Roberson, who is training with her fellow teammates Biles, and Chiles under coach Cecile Landi and Laurent Landi at the World Champions Centre in Spring, Texas took to social media to inform the fans about the conclusion of the Pre-Olympic training camp as the gymnasts are all set to leave for Paris.
"Olympic Prep Camp✅ Paris here we come," the 18-year-old gymnast wrote on her Instagram account.
"I wanted to really embrace whatever role I was put in" - Joscelyn Roberson on being selected as an alternate in Team USA Paris Olympics squad

Joscelyn Roberson missed out on being included in the performing team with a narrow gap. However, this does not shake her motivation. The 18-year-old is training with the same determination and vigor as her peers, driven by the hope of being an essential backup if the need arises.
In an interview with Olympics.com, Joscelyn Roberson expressed her intent to embrace the role as an alternate wholeheartedly. She further stated that she wanted to be seen as a passionate supporter of the team rather than being pitied for her near miss.
“I wanted to really embrace whatever role I was put in. Being put in an alternate spot is hard, but I don’t want people to look at me and be like, ‘Oh, she was so close.’ I want them to look at me like, ‘She’s going to be their biggest supporter, she’s going to be ready if they need her, and she’s going to be screaming from the rooftops,’” Roberson said.
The Gymnastics events will kick off on July 27, 2024, at the Paris Olympics.
