American swimmer and nine-time Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky visited her alma mater, Little Flower School in Bethesda on Friday (Oct. 18).
Hailing from Washington DC, Ledecky attended the Little Flower School till eighth grade following which she migrated to the Stone Ridge High School. After winning two gold medals in Paris, Ledecky paid a visit to her first educational institution.
In the recently shared pictures by the Little Flower School's Instagram handle, Ledecky is seen having a fun time with the kids. The 27-year-old clicked pictures with the students and also flaunted one of the Olympic gold medals that she won in Paris.
She also met some of the faculty members during her time at the school. The school also shared the presence of its alumni through a note on its Instagram stories. It wrote:
"We love you @katieledecky thank you for making the most special appearance tonight!! Your fellow little cardinals adore and idolize you."

Katie Ledecky also visited the Stone Ridge School in Maryland, where she completed her high-school journey in 2015 on Thursday. This came on the eve of "Katie Ledecky Day" celebration, in which a lane near the school was facilitated with her name.
In an interview after the visit, Ledecky opened up about her journey from a young child of the institution. She also mentioned that she is looking forward to being a role model for the young aspiring athletes in the school. Ledecky said (via Montgomery Community Media):
"I was once that young girl that looked up to the big-time swimmers, and Olympians, and leaders in their communities. So I know that it’s meaningful that I have an opportunity to do that for the next generation coming up through school and through the sport."
Ledecky further added:
"I hope that the young kids out there will work hard and pursue their goals in whatever it is they’re passionate about."
Katie Ledecky produced impressive performances throughout her high school career until 2015. The American swimmer registered national high school records in the 200m freestyle (1:43.03) and 500m freestyle (4:28.11) events.
Ledecky also competed in her first Olympic Games in 2012 while still attending school. She won a gold medal in the 800m freestyle in a then national-record time of 8:14.63.
