Katie Moon recently took a trip to Tulum, Mexico, during the off-season following her exploits at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The 33-year-old earned the silver medal in the women’s pole vault in Paris, her second consecutive medal at the quadrennial games.

Entering the Paris Olympics as the defending Olympic champion in pole vault, Moon made a clearance of 4.55m to qualify for the final. In the final, Moon won the silver medal after breaching the 4.85m mark as she equaled her season-best effort, finishing only behind Nina Kennedy (4.90m).

Although both Katie Moon and bronze medalist Alysha Newman cleared 4.85m, the American finished ahead on a count-back as she had cleared all the previous heights on her first attempt before missing at 4.85m.

Following her silver medal campaign in Paris, Moon took a trip to Tulum, a town located on the Caribbean coastline of Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico. There, she was seen enjoying the beach life as she offered glimpses of her trip on her Instagram story.

Katie Moon opened up on her struggles following an injury-prone season, where she was affected by an Achilles injury. Following the Paris Olympics, she spoke on her performance in an interview with Olympics.com, stating:

“I would have loved to defend my title, I tried very hard to do that. But I'm so, so relieved and happy with how it went."

She added:

“I was just relieved to make the team again. Once I was here, I was just praying that my body would hold up because I really felt like I was capable of jumping high and doing something great again, as long as my body played ball, and I'm just so, so happy that it did.”

At the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials, Moon finished second to compatriot Bridget Williams to advance to the Paris Olympics squad. She hit the last hurdle at the London Diamond League with an eighth-place finish before bouncing back with a medal in Paris.
