Laurie Hernandez has shared glimpses from her holiday gateway in Puerto Rico after seemingly enjoying her Christmas in the North American country. The retired gymnast featured as a commentator at the Paris Olympics.

Hernandez shared a series of pictures from her trip on Instagram on Thursday and could be seen enjoying a bath at the Gozalandia Waterfalls, located in San Sebastián, a Northwestern town in Puerto Rico. The two-time Olympic medalist was in a two-piece swimsuit and hung from a long rope before jumping into the water.

"happy holidays🙂‍↕️🌊🎄," she captioned the post

Earlier last week, the 24-year-old shared another picture from a beach, which was likely in Puerto Rico as well.

Hernandez made her Olympic debut at the 2016 Rio Olympics and was the youngest member of the Simone Biles-led gold medal-winning USA women's gymnastics team, famously known as the "Final Five". She also won a silver medal on the balance beam.

The 24-year-old didn't qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and retired afterward but made an appearance nonetheless at the Games as a gymnastics commentator for NBC. She worked as a gymnastics analyst for NBC at the 2024 Paris Olympics and has been pursuing an undergraduate degree at the New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Speaking in an interview with Olympics.com following the end of her freshman year at the New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in August 2023, Laurie Hernandez revealed that her classmates were shocked to see her during the initial days given her popularity as an Olympic champion.

“During that first week, like orientation week, I think people freaked out a bit and just noticed me a lot," she said.

However, the 24-year-old began being treated as a normal student shortly afterward, a thing she said she wanted to happen.

"Literally, as soon as the first week was over, no one could care less. It was perfect. That’s exactly what I wanted. I’m not a gymnast when I’m at school, I am just me and I’m just trying to learn like all the other kids," Laurie Hernandez added.

The 2016 Olympic champion is studying drama at the Tisch School of the Arts and as per the aforementioned interview, she considered minoring in creative writing.
