American alpine ski racer Lindsey Vonn recently shared glimpses of her time at the beach. This comes after her first World Cup race since 2019 where she secured a 14th place finish at the St Moritz event in Switzerland.
Following her return to competitive action, the 40-year-old was spotted enjoying her time at the beach as she looks to enjoy some downtime amid this Christmas season. Vonn took to her Instagram handle to share a few pictures of her break.
In the photos, the Minnesota native could be seen donning pink swimwear and a blue dress and complementing them with black sunglasses.
"Defrosting," Vonn wrote in her caption.

She also added a sarcastic 'starfish' comment in the comments section of the post. She wrote:
"No starfish were harmed in the making of this post"
Lindsey Vonn will return to the slopes next at St Anton in Austria in January where she is planning to compete in two events (downhill and super-g). She last competed there back in 2013 where she raced in the super-g event and finished fourth. Notably, the American skier has two World Cup victories in St Anton (2007 World Cup) in downhill and super combined events.
Lindsey Vonn receives applause from the US Ski and Snowboard President
Sophie Goldschmidt, US Ski and Snowboard President, recently shared some kind words for Lindsey Vonn after the latter's Ski World Cup comeback in St Moritz last week.
In an interview after Vonn's race, Goldschmidt stated that Vonn's return to the world stage is 'fantastic' for the sport because of the attention and eyeballs that she brings to the table. She also mentioned that these characteristics of Vonn elevate the sport to an extent similar to that of Mikaela Shiffrin. She said (via AP News):
"To have her back on the world stage is just fantastic. Just the attention she’s bringing to the sport and the role model she is, it’s a big day. These kind of moments transcend outside of just sports. We see it with Mikaela (Shiffrin) and what she’s done recently, which is just superhuman as well, setting all those records.”
Different from Goldschmidt, Vonn has also faced several negative critics from some corners of the ski racing community after her comeback.
