Former alpine skiing icon Lindsey Vonn has shared a glimpse of her recent vacation as she recovers from a knee replacement surgery. The skier posted captivating pictures on her social media handle.
Lindsey Vonn is one of the most decorated alpine skiing athletes, having won three Olympic medals (one gold and two bronze medals). She has also clinched eight World Championship medals. Furthermore, she has a humongous 82 World Cup victories, which was a women's world record until her compatriot Mikaela Shiffrin surpassed it in 2023.
The 39-year-old athlete had to face some unfortunate knee injuries throughout her career, as a result of which she had to undergo knee replacement surgery recently.
Now it seems the Olympian is embracing her recovery time as she shared multiple pictures on Saturday from her vacation. She can be seen peeking at the camera in front of a mini pool, followed by a heartwarming picture with a friend, then a picture of a hammock. She also posted a photo of herself undergoing ice therapy for her knee, and then there are multiple other snippets of her by the beach. She has also shared a short clip from her workout routine.
"Relax. Explore. Expand. Happy," Vonn captioned the post.
However, the details around the location of her getaway spot remain confidential.
A brief look at Lindsey Vonn's early life and life after retirement
Lindsey Vonn was born in Minnesota and started to ski at the tender age of two. It was her father who spotted the raw talent in his daughter and kept supporting her, as a result of which Vonn joined Erich Sailer’s race program at Buck Hill in Burnsville, Minnesota, and started her formal training.
At the age of 14, she won the Cadets slalom at the Trofeo Topolino di Sci Alpino in Italy, becoming the first American woman to do so, and from thereon she never looked back. Fast forward to 2024, and Vonn has everything that a skier would want to achieve in their career. She bid adieu to her illustrious career in 2019.
Now the Miami-based athlete keeps herself busy with multiple ventures, like being a member of the ownership group of Angel City FC, an LA-based women's soccer team. She is the face of multiple brands like Land Rover, Red Bull, Rolex, Under Armour, etc as well. Vonn is also a stakeholder in the YNIQ eyewear brand. She is also the owner of the Lindsey Vonn Foundation, which works for the well-being of girls.
