"Texas baby!"
Mondo Duplantis opened up about proposing his long-time girlfriend Desire Inglander
Mondo Duplantis and Desire Inglander, who is a model and social media influencer, first met at a Midsummer party in Sweden in 2020. The pole vaulted made the first move but he revealed to People.com that Desire wanted nothing to do with Mondo and just wanted to dance. He pursued her for some months after the party, but she wasn't sure about the same. He finally sent a message saying:
"'‘I leave in a few weeks for the United States. Let me take you on a date. Just say yes,’"
In a recent interview with Vogue Scandinavia, Mondo Duplantis opened up about his nervousness while proposing to his girlfriend. He said:
"This is way more nerve-wracking [than competing]."
The Vogue Scandinavia shared a video of their special moment and revealed Duplantis' feelings in their caption.
"I was more nervous than at the Olympics," said Mondo Duplantis. "I can safely say it’s the most nervous I’ve been in my life. I had a few lines that I thought I was going to say, but I lost my words. I completely froze."
Another moment of Mondo Duplantis and his girlfriend made rounds over the internet during the Paris Olympics, as the 24-year-old ran to Inglander and shared a celebratory kiss after breaking the world record at the Paris Olympics.
