In an interview with Vogue Scandinavia, Mondo Duplantis revealed that he was very nervous while proposing to his girlfriend. He said that he "froze" during that moment because of his nervousness.
"I can safely say it's the most nervous I've been in my life. I had a few lines that I thought I was going to say, but I lost my words. I completely froze," Mondo Duplantis said.
Along with this, the two-time Olympic champion also said that his girlfriend brings 'great balance' to his life.
“Desiré brings me such a great balance in life. It’s so nice to be able to come home and escape into a completely different world, absorb ourselves in each other and whatever we’re doing."
Mondo Duplantis and Desire Inglander met at a midsummer party for the first time in 2020 in Sweden, and the pole vault champion was the first to approach for a date. Although Inglander did not agree to a date with him initially, the Swede made his way through with constant efforts for the model to agree to the date, and the couple has been together since.
