Mondo Duplantis shared some kind words as he received a major award from the BBC
Mondo Duplantis expressed his thoughts after being named the BBC's World Sports Star of the Year 2024 earlier this month.
In an interview, Duplantis explained that winning this award is an 'honor' for him and apologized for not being able to receive the award physically due to his training sessions in the United States. He said (via BBC One):
"I am so honoured to win the World Sports Personality of the Year award. I am so sorry I couldn't be there. I am back here in the States and training for the up-and-coming season. This award really means a lot to me."
Mondo Duplantis won the award after beating several other shortlisted candidates such as Simone Biles, Caitlin Clerk, Sifan Hassan, and Catherine Debrunner.
